Vancouver is by far my favourite city in Canada because of it’s natural beauty and friendly people and amazing restaurants! I was really surprised by how delicious all the food was, there is an abundance of amazing places to eat and drink in Vancouver. I have listed my favourite spots and a few recommendations from my friends by neighborhood! Hope you have a fun time exploring each neighborhood and trying all the yummy food, I know I did!

Gastown
Nelson the Seagull
The perfect spot to enjoy breakfast, lunch and pastries. This is a popular spot in the city so go early to claim a seat in the airy and rustic space. They are known for their sourdough bread, coffee and coffee. You can even buy full loaves of sourdough bread daily.

Nuba sharing platter
Nuba
One of my favourite restaurants in Vancouver that is found in the basement of the Dominion Building. It’s a popular Lebanese joint serving amazing sharing platters, delicious cocktails and they have a large variety of vegetarian and vegan options.

Tacofino
What started as a food truck in Tofino has quickly grown into many restaurants and trucks around BC. They serve amazing Mexican food with a west coast twist.

Purebread
THE BEST BAKERY! I can’t recommend this place enough for the most amazing pastries and bread! They have stores in Vancouver and Whistler and it’s super popular! Definitely try the sticky buns, almond croissant and huge scones!

MeeT
An upbeat and funky eatery serving only vegetarian and vegan food. Their mission is to being plant based food to the fore front with a unique take on staples.

Nails in the shape of continents
Revolver
A rustic coffee shop featuring ethical and fair trade coffee made fresh to order. This spot is packed during the day so get here early. I love how you can see the coffee being brewed right in front of you and the cool nail mural of the world.

Cartems Donuts
A variety of gourmet donuts made with quality ingredients. The first time I went they had a line out the door so I came back the next day and there was no line so it’s a game of luck.

Meat and Bread
They offer a small sandwich menu and a few sides. It’s a great option for a cheap eat. There are a bunch of locations around the city and all have different sandwiches.

North Vancouver
Buddha-full
A vegan friendly eatery with a pretty interior and outdoor patio. They have an extensive raw menu serving bowls, wraps, salad, juices, smoothies and more!

Lonsdale Quay Market
Once you get off the Seabus it drops you off right outside of the market. It’s a huge market with vendors selling fresh produce, food and local products. Check out this link for a list of the vendors and things to do.

Earnest Ice Cream
A small batch ice cream shop that sells their classics as well as seasonal and vegan flavours. Also you can try as many flavours as you like, I highly suggest the toasted coconut and the rhubarb oat crumble if they have it!

Kitsilano
Viva Cafe & Bakery
This charming coffee shop is a short walk away from Kitsilano beach and has a bright and airy interior. Definitely get the strawberry and rhubarb croissant and eat it on the patio on a warm sunny day.

Rain or Shine Ice Cream
A highly recommended ice cream parlor that serves seasonal flavours that are made in house with local ingredients.

TurF
Are you looking for a great place for vegan food and the perfect work spot? TurF is a cool and urban eatery serving vegan food and an extensive drink list. Their motto is all about work out, hang out, take out, with a fitness studio, shop and restaurant all in one. This Mediterranean bowl was to die for, all their options look sooo good!

Others
Chickpea Restaurant
The perfect vegan restaurant in the city serving delicious brunch and lunch options featuring chickpeas. I love that they present you with the menu in children’s books and the entire restaurant has a really quirky vibe. Definitely try the Bacado sandwich and “eggs benny”.

Fat Mao Noodles
My dad recommend this hole in wall place to me after watching the food network and it definitely lived up to the hype! This restaurant is found in the heart of China town and has a very small seating area so it fills up quick. They serve dishes from around Asia and everything is super fresh and delicious! Definitely try the Koh Soi with a Thai iced tea!

Marutama Ramen
I never ate here but every time I passed by there was always a line so i’m sure it is worth checking out! All their ramen has a creamy chicken broth base and home made noodles.
Medina
This is the perfect joint for an amazing breakfast/brunch and worth the wait! They are known for their electic menu and Belgian waffles that you can eat in house or take it to go. I loved the harissa “burger” and the chai latte. One of the best meals I had in Vancouver and definitely one of my fave chai lattes I’ve ever had!

It’s kind of funny about marutama. I have been wanting to go for a while, but when we actually get there, we don’t want to line up for that long! If you come back, give me a shout as I can think of several more places that you would love (based on the things you’ve listed that you like!!)
Ahaha so glad you agree! The line for Ramen was always so long, it was right by my hostel so I passed by all the time, it must be good! I will definitely let you when I come back to the city, probably at the end of the year! π
